First thing’s first: all our cleanings are thorough.
A routine wellness cleaning is generally recommended for people with healthy gums. Your hygienist removes plaque and tartar from your teeth, including areas that are difficult to reach with brushing and flossing at home.
If you have periodontal (gum) disease, you may need scaling and root planing, sometimes called a deep cleaning or gum therapy. This treatment removes plaque and tartar from below the gumline and helps manage the infection and inflammation associated with gum disease.
If you’ve previously been treated for periodontal disease, your dentist may recommend periodontal maintenance (aka gum care) visits instead of regular preventive cleanings.
We’ll check your gum health, including measuring the small spaces between your teeth and gums, before recommending the type of cleaning that’s right for you.
